Geese covered The Velvet Underground’s ‘I’m Waiting For The Man’ at a show in San Diego this week – watch footage below.

The acclaimed New York band are currently touring North America in support of their 2025 album ‘Getting Killed’, and on Friday night (October 31), they stopped off at the Quartyard in San Diego.

To open their encore, and “in the spirit of Halloween”, they launched into a version of their NYC forebears’ classic 1967 track, with frontman Cameron Winter notably updating the lyric to, “I’m waiting for my man / Got $347 in my hand”.

Earlier in their set, they also raced through a montage of songs from The Stooges’ 1970 album ‘Fun House’, playing parts of ‘Down On The Street’, ‘Loose’ and ‘TV Eye’.

At a previous show on the current tour in Denver, the band raffled off a flat tyre that they had picked up on the way to the concert in aid of Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition.

The former NME Cover stars recently announced a UK headline tour for 2026, which will kick off in Bristol’s Electric on March 20 and take in Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester, before rounding out at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on March 26. They will also play at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom on August 26 and at London’s Troxy on September 1. Find any remaining tickets for the shows here.

Following their run of spring dates in the UK, the group will make appearances at Coachella 2026 and next year’s edition of Primavera Sound Barcelona.

In a glowing five-star review of ‘Getting Killed’, NME wrote: “There’s so much going on in this album that it feels like it would have been easy for the five-piece to lose sight of the bigger picture, yet for all its abrupt shifts and intricate details, ‘Getting Killed’ somehow doesn’t ever feel like there’s too much at play or like its creators aren’t in complete control.

“Instead, this is a band living up to their reputation as exhilaratingly free-spirited, not so much proving they deserve all the accolades and fervent fanaticism bubbling around them but demanding it.”

Geese’s previous album, ‘3D Country’, appeared on NME‘s 50 best albums of 2023 list, where it was hailed for capturing “a sound far more expansive than most bands at this stage of their career”.
