Watch Geese perform ‘Cobra’ and other ‘Getting Killed’ cuts at first ‘Tiny Desk’ concert

Watch Geese perform ‘Cobra’ and other ‘Getting Killed’ cuts at first ‘Tiny Desk’ concert

Geese’s first ‘Tiny Desk’ set is out, and sees the New Yorkers play three songs from last year’s album ‘Getting Killed’, including the single ‘Cobra’ – check the performance out below.

The ‘Tiny Desk’ series is hosted by NPR and sees artists visit the NPR Music offices in Washington D.C. to play a handful of tracks in a more intimate setting. Artists to have been involved in recent months include Pulp, Daniel Caesar, Robert Plant, Nova Twins and Tame Impala, and former NME Cover stars Geese are the latest.

After trinkets brought by bassist Dominic DiGesu – including a toy goose given to the band on tour and a stuffed Snoopy toy – got displayed on the desk itself, the band went into a soulful rendition of ‘Getting Killed’ album track ‘Husbands’.

‘Cobra’, the final single from the album, followed, giving the set a livelier feel, before they finished off proceedings with another song from the album, ‘Half Real’ – watch the full performance here.

Whereas some artists opt to go acoustic when playing a ‘Tiny Desk’ show, Geese seemed to keep to their usual setup as much as possible as they worked their way through three of ‘Getting Killed’s more mellow tracks.

Frontman Cameron Winter poked fun at NPR between songs, too, joking, “How did you guys get into this? I thought it was just NPR staffers and friends here. But NPR staffers don’t have this many friends. I’m kidding, don’t turn the cameras off.”

The Geese ‘Tiny Desk’ setlist was:

‘Husbands’
‘Cobra’
‘Half Real’

The performance arrives while Geese are in the middle of the Pacific leg of their ‘Getting Killed’ world tour. After touring the mainland US and Canada last autumn, they played Honolulu, Hawaii on January 31 and the band are currently in Australia, playing the second of two Sydney shows tomorrow night (February 11).

After Australia they head to Japan, and in March they’re set to tour Europe – with five UK dates included. After a series of festival appearances, including performances at Coachella and Primavera Sound, Geese will return to the UK at the end of August for Reading & Leeds Festival and shows in Glasgow and London – find tickets here.

Geese’s 2026 UK headline tour dates are:

MARCH
20 – The Prospect Building, Bristol
21 – Barrowland Ballroom, Glasgow
22 – O2 Academy Leeds, Leeds
24 – O2 Victoria Warehouse, Manchester
25 – Eventim Apollo, London

AUGUST
25 – Barrowland Ballroom, Glasgow

26 – Barrowland Ballroom, Glasgow

SEPTEMBER
01 – Troxy, London
02 – Troxy, London

NME gave ‘Getting Killed’, a five-star review upon its release last year, describing the album as “another exhilaratingly free-spirited turn from the New York cult heroes”, and also named it the best album of 2025.

“Who ordered this absurd, poetic explosion of jazz, rock and noise – where Radiohead, Black Midi, The Strokes, Van Morrison, and Ukrainian choir samples collide without being crushed beneath the pretension? It’s a rare, unpredictable record that comes with such melody in the madness, control in the chaos. It’s a total thrill, but then “all people must smile in times of war”, as Winter croons on ‘100 Horses’,” wrote NME.

“‘Getting Killed’ should be enough to wake people up from their exhausted nostalgia and realise that New York – and guitar music at large – is alive and kicking down their front door. At least, it’s easily the album of the year. Stay wild and carry on.”

And last month, Geese made their Saturday Night Live debut. They were the musical guest on January 24, with Teyana Taylor as host, and performed two more tracks from ‘Getting Killed’: ‘Au Pays du Cocaine’ and opener ‘Trinidad’.
