Geese frontman Cameron Winter has dropped an enchanting cover of a This Is Lorelei song while on stage in LA, and seemingly previewed a new song.

The singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist took to the stage for two back-to-back nights at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles over the weekend (December 13 and 14), as part of his ongoing run of stripped-back piano gigs across the US.

While his setlist on the first night was pretty similar to that seen in previous tour dates, Winter did catch some fans off-guard by closing out his 12-song setlist with a cover of the song ‘Where’s Your Love Now?’.

The track is written by Water From Your Eyes member Nate Amos, and was released under his ‘This Is Lorelei’ moniker. It featured in his ‘Box for Buddy, Box for Star’ album, which dropped last year.

For the cover, Winter put his own distinctive spin on the song. He kept it in the theme of his stripped-back, piano-led shows, and made it unmistakably his own by putting his signature vocal style over the top. Check out footage below.

According to Setlist.FM, the shows at the Palace Theatre didn’t just see the New York singer put his own spin on This Is Lorelei into the set, but also take time to showcase a new, currently-unreleased song called ‘Sandbag’.

As seen in the footage shared by fans, the new song takes on an eerie, blues-inspired feeling, and features melancholy, introspective vocal melodies similar to that of Johnny Cash.

“Laying on the ground, leg in the sky/ Scratching away, easing my mind/ I finally found my truest little part/ It’s a strange little itch with nothing inside,” the lyrics seem to say.

“I will not reach so reachingly out at what yours/ I will not beg to be your second or your third/ And I will not yell so needingly out at what passes/ But won’t you please see, it passes in front of me/ Bird, after bird, after bird.”

At a stop at London’s Roundhouse earlier on the tour, NME gave Winter’s stirring performance a glowing five-star review, writing: “Cameron Winter has the power, talent and magnetism of a future great – a star to go the distance with just that voice, a piano and a whole world quite literally at his fingertips.”

Later, at his stop at Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium, in his NYC hometown, the performance was seen being recorded by director Paul Thomas Anderson.

Anderson recorded his rendition of ‘Nina + Field Of Cops’, taken from his 2024 debut album, ‘Heavy Metal’, and people in the audience also note that the director was stood with filmmaker and actor Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems, Good Time, Heaven Knows What).

Safdie also starred in Anderson’s 2021 film Licorice Pizza, which saw Alana Haim make her acting debut.

Winter’s band, Geese, are currently riding high thanks to huge praise for their latest album, ‘Getting Killed’.

It earned a five-star review from NME, and later landed at Number One on our 50 best albums of 2025 list.

“‘Getting Killed’ should be enough to wake people up from their exhausted nostalgia and realise that New York – and guitar music at large – is alive and kicking down their front door,” the entry read. “At least, it’s easily the album of the year. Stay wild and carry on.”

The song ‘Taxes’ also came in at Number Two in NME‘s round-up of the 50 best songs of 2025, and the band have been celebrated by both Nick Cave and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

To top things off, the former NME Cover stars have been longlisted for the BBC Radio 1 Sound Of 2026, and confirmed for next year’s Reading & Leeds, too.
