Watch Hardy Showcase Anthemic Song ‘Bottomland’ on ‘Fallon’

The reflective track comes off the Nashville singer’s recent album, Country! Country!

Hardy appeared on The Tonight Show to perform his song “Bottomland.” The country singer showcased the anthemic track solo on the late-night show’s stage, sitting on an upturned log as the camera swept around him.

“Bottomland” comes off Hardy’s recent LP, Country! Country!, which arrived in September. The song sees the Nashville musician reflecting on his roots as he sings, “Lord just take me as I am/ Bury me in bottomland/ I am just a country boy/ Where I come from didn’t have no choice/ But what I’ve done well or so I’m told/ So baby wear my watch, baby sell my gold.”

Country! Country! marks Hardy’s fourth album. It features 20 tracks, including single “Favorite Country Song.” During a recent appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, the musician discussed the new songs, his choice to cover the 1975’s “Love It If We Made It,” and the 2022 bus crash that left him physically injured and suffering from PTSD.

Rolling Stone wrote of the album, “But underneath the surface, Country! Country! is, like much of Hardy’s work, surprising. There are some dark moments, including at least the full eight songs that find him contemplating his own burial or death.”

Hardy will promote Country! Country! with an expansive tour next year. In October, he announced his upcoming Country! Country! Tour!, which kicks off in February and runs through August of 2026. The trek will feature a well-curated rotating stack of openers, including radio hitmaker Tucker Wetmore, proudly indie duo Muscadine Bloodline, and country honky-tonker Jake Worthington. Cameron Whitcomb, Mitchell Tenpenny, and McCoy Moore are also on the lineup.
