Watch previously-unseen footage of Oasis’ early 1994 gig in Glasgow

Footage of Oasis performing in Scotland before the release of ‘Definitely Maybe’ has been made available to watch for the first time.

The previously-unseen footage captures the Britpop legends performing at the Tramway in Glasgow on April 7 1994, before the release of their massive debut album later that year.

For over three decades now, the video has been largely unseen, and was only made available when it went up for auction in August 2025, when fans clubbed together to buy it and make it available to the public.

Together, fans came together with the Live4Ever forum bid, and spent nearly £3,000 to buy the footage and the licensing rights.

According to a post on the Oasis Archive website, they bought it to ensure the rare video was not lost, and are asking other fans to consider donating so they can split the costs fairly among the community.

Coming in at around 30 minutes, the video shows Oasis – Liam and Noel Gallagher, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan, and Tony McCarroll – preparing to go on stage at the venue, chatting backstage and drinking beer. It also shows them after the gig, talking amongst themselves and preparing to head back.

As they take to the stage, Liam is seen wearing his distinctive red and white stripe jumper, raising his arms up as the band are introduced. He also shakes a star-shaped tambourine throughout the gig, kicking things off with ‘Shakermaker’, before launching into ‘Digsy’s Dinner’ and ‘Live Forever’.

During ‘Cigarettes And Alcohol’, he moves away from leaning into the microphone with both hands wrapped around the stand, to performing in his now-signature style by having his hands clasped behind his back. From there, they wrap things up with ‘Supersonic’.

In an update on the Oasis Archive website, those who helped buy the footage at the auction explained that while they had kept it “exclusive for people who donated for a while – we go public with the article to everyone”.

They also released the “FM radio broadcast audio from the night” alongside the video. Check it out here, and those who want to donate to split the costs of the auction can find out more here.

“Thank you so much for this,” one fan wrote on Reddit, having watched the video. “Love watching footage from the very early days – pure gold! Liam’s star-shaped tambourine and his white-red jumper (there are many photos of Liam wearing it and even some with Noel in it, so they probably shared it <3) are both so iconic!”

Someone else shared their excitement at the footage, highlighting their top moments from the set – including the tambourine, the “pre and post-gig coverage”, and the “progression of Liam’s stance from start (holding mic and mic stand) to hands behind back) midway”.

The footage being shared of the 1994 gig comes amid rumours that Oasis were looking to follow up their huge 2025 reunion tour with another run of UK and European dates in 2027. Among the dates speculated included a 12-night homecoming residency in Manchester and a return to Knebworth.

There has been speculation of a return to the Hertfordshire space circulating since 2025, when a British peer claimed that Liam and Noel would be playing five back-to-back anniversary gigs there in 2026. She would later backtrack on the comments.

While nothing is confirmed yet, it is looking likely that tour dates for next year could be announced soon. In December, Liam got fans’ hopes up by writing: “Bring on 2027… I mean 2026”, and he also told someone on X that Oasis would “without a doubt, 100 per cent” be playing live in Rome in 2027.

More recently, the promoter of Oasis’ huge Live ‘25 tour was granted a licence to host gigs at Knebworth, making rumours of a 2027 comeback more likely.

While new shows are a possibility, Liam has seemingly rejected the idea of a new Oasis album, saying on X: “No. I’m just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the first hour, cure bad breath and constipation for the nation, if it doesn’t turn back time for Cher and some other shit. Let’s just do some gigs and be happy, thank you.”

Oasis are set to release a new Steven Knight-directed documentary next month, and the first trailer dropped earlier this summer.

Don’t Look Back In Anger will be released in cinemas and on IMAX on September 11, before becoming available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu around the world at a later date in 2026. The latest clips show Liam and Noel backstage, promising that the reunion shows were “going to be chaos”.

Since then, it has been reported that Noel and Liam will attend the Venice Film Festival together for the premiere.
