Watch Rosalía play ‘La Perla’ in surprise appearance at Palestine benefit in Barcelona

Rosalía performed ‘La Perla’ in a surprise appearance at a benefit concert for Palestine this week – check out footage below.

The Spanish singer-songwriter had not been scheduled to show up at the fundraiser at Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi on Thursday (January 19), but she closed out the event after sets from Bad Gyal, Tinariwen, Amaia and Morad.

She played ‘La Perla’ from her latest album ‘Lux’, which was released to widespread critical acclaim in November.

All profits from the concert were being donated to the Palestinian Performing Arts Network as well as to multiple cultural centres across the country, including the AJEE/Lajee Center and Dar Qandeel.

Watch footage of ‘La Perla’ here:

Before ‘Lux’ was released, Rosalía was turned down by fashion designer Miguel Adrover, who accused her of not working with “any artist who doesn’t publicly support Palestine”. She later responded, arguing that pressure for change should be pointed “upwards” to those in government who have the power to make concrete change.

“The fact that I have not used my platform in line with other people’s style or expectations does not mean that I do not condemn what is happening in Palestine,” she wrote.

“It is terrible to see innocent people being killed day after day, and those who should stop this are not doing so,” she added. “I do not see how shaming each other is the best way to move forward in the fight for Palestinian freedom.”

NME gave ‘LUX a glowing five-star review, calling it “an arresting album of astonishing scope and ambition”, adding: “Dim the lights, put your phone on Do Not Disturb, turn up the volume and settle in for a truly one-of-a-kind experience.”

It was also named on the best albums of the year list by NME, while ‘Reliquia’ from the album landed at Number Seven on NME‘s 50 best songs of 2025 list. The cut is hailed as being musically “adventurous”, with its “gorgeous opening string arrangement melting into gently thumping electronic production”.

In other news, the Vatican has shared praise for Rosalía’s “provocative” songs about faith on her new record. The singer has also cleared up whether the single ‘Berghain’ was inspired by the iconic Berlin club of the same name.

She has also announced a huge 2026 world tour, including dates in the UK, Europe and North America. See all of the dates here and find any remaining tickets here.
