In July, the rapper announced dates for the ‘Sexyy Red 4 President’ tour. However, rumours soon emerged claiming that Red’s second headline tour wasn’t selling as quickly as planned. According to box office aggregator Touring Data, only 37.11 per cent of the 85,217 tickets had been sold by then.
Red disputed the claims shortly after, quote-tweeting a post to set the record straight: “My fans are buying tickets [and] we’re doin’ just fine. We not cancelling no tour. Dis cancelling shit all cap [hat emojis].”
Despite her statement, a handful of shows of the tour were cancelled without explanation. Billboard have reported that the tour’s first date in Seattle (August 22) was called off, and planned dates in Portland and Oakland had been quietly removed from the itinerary.
Around the same time, Red announced a new lipgloss line and surprised fans with the unconventional names. The first product in her upcoming beauty brand Northside Princess, the glosses aren’t for the faint-hearted, named ‘Coochie Juice’, ‘Bootyhole Brown’, ‘Nut’, ‘Pussyhole Pink’, ‘Yellow Discharge’, ‘Gonorrhea’, ‘Blue Ballz’, and ‘Sex On My Period’.
The rapper also told NME she thinks she “should be the President in real life”. She was speaking about her third mixtape ‘Sexyy Red 4 President’, released in May. It featured the likes of Drake, Lil Baby, and more. “It was fun,” Red told NME about making the record.
Ice Spice is soon set to tour the UK and Europe to promote ‘Y2K’. The dates kick off at the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin at the end of next month (October 29), and will see the singer then head over to the UK for more shows. The stint continues throughout November too, commencing with a show at the O2 Academy in Birmingham on November 3, followed by a gig at the O2 Academy Brixton in London the next night.
From there, Ice Spice heads over to Europe, for shows in Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and more for the remainder of the month.
