Vampire Weekend, Beck and St Vincent have all responded to the meme calling for artists to play Chappell Roan‘s hit single ‘Hot To Go!’. Watch the videos below.
The song appears on Roan’s acclaimed debut album ‘The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess’, which recently earned the singer a UK Number One – almost a year after its release.

An ongoing trend on TikTok has seen fans share footage of an act who is not Roan performing a track that is not ‘Hot To Go!’. “I hope they play ‘Hot To Go!,” the gig attendee says beforehand.
Earlier this summer, Roan herself got involved when she joined Olivia Rodrigo onstage for a collaborative rendition of the tune in the US.
“I hope she plays ‘Hot To Go!’,” said the ‘Guts’ star in a clip. Roan responded: “This is an Olivia Rodrigo concert, bitch!” The video then cut to the pair performing the song at the show.
Now, Vampire Weekend have got in on the action. During their gig in Toronto on Tuesday (September 24), Ezra Koenig and co. treated the crowd to a snippet of ‘Hot To Go!’ to kick off the encore – which also featured brief covers of classics by The Beatles, ABBA, Pulp and more.
As expected, the memes came in thick and fast as fans put a playful spin on the trend. “This is a Vampire Weekend concert,” said various TikTok users, with footage of the NYC group tackling the single following.
“They did in fact play ‘Hot To Go!’,” wrote one user on the platform. Check out the full cover above and a selection of reaction posts below.

Additionally, St Vincent has shared a TikTok of her and Beck’s version of the Roan meme from Riot Fest in Chicago. “I hope she plays ‘Hot To Go!’,” Beck said. St Vincent replied: “Beck. This is Slayer.”
Footage of the thrash metal band’s headline set at the event (and first live performance in five years) followed. In the caption, Annie Clark asked: “Are we doing this right?” She included the hashtag #HotToGo too. Tune in here:

In a four-star review of Roan’s ‘…Midwest Princess’, NME wrote: “The bratty chorus of ‘Hot To Go!’ can be read as a cousin of Olivia Rodrigo‘s recent hit ‘Bad Idea Right?’; incidentally, producer and songwriter Dan Nigro – a longtime collaborator of Rodrigo – also worked on this album.”
The song peaked at Number Nine on the UK singles chart, and Number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
In August, Roan celebrated the first anniversary of ‘Hot To Go!’ by sporting the same outfit she wears in the track’s video for a performance at Outside Lands Festival.
Before launching into the dance from the song, the former NME Cover star poked fun at the fans who weren’t joining in, saying: “It’s so weird that VIP thinks they’re so way too cool to do this! You’re not fun! Be fun and try!”
Roan recently delivered a fiery, medieval-inspired performance of ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ at the MTV VMAs 2024, where she also won the Best New Artist award. During her acceptance speech, she dedicated the prize to the “queer and trans people who fuel pop”.
Meanwhile, the star has given an update on her “super weird” upcoming second album. So far, she has around five or six songs ready for the project.
In a glowing five-star review of Roan’s recent Brixton show, NME wrote: “From the moment she struts in, it’s undeniable that Chappell Roan is the ultimate pop star.”
