Katie Crutchfield and company perform three tracks from the acclaimed 2024 LP
Six months after Waxahatchee released her latest album Tigers Blood, the singer born Katie Crutchfield appeared on CBS Mornings’ “Saturday Sessions” to perform three tracks from the LP.
For the mini-set, Waxahatchee played “Crowbar,” the title track “Tigers Blood,” and the single “Right Back to It” (sans MJ Lenderman, who appears on the studio version of the track) with her backing band.
Tigers Blood, Waxahatchee’s sixth studio LP and one of Rolling Stone’s Best Albums of 2024 So Far, arrived in March. That same month, Crutchfield spoke to Rolling Stone about the album, the follow-up to her acclaimed 2020 LP Saint Cloud.
“In the past, I’ve anxiously listened to my records before they come out a lot, searching for mistakes — and then of course finding them because I’m searching for them,” Crutchfield said, adding of Tigers Blood, “Every word is in the correct place. Every melody is just right. There’s no question marks. There’s no need to obsess over every little detail.”
While the album arrived in March, it lay finished for about a year before its release. “I made the record a year ago, so I’ve been in this anxious headspace for a long time, and it’s been getting more and more ramped up,” Crutchfield told Rolling Stone. “And now we’re finally here. The band I’ve put together for this tour is really cool. I think that the shows are going to be really cool.”
