Watch Yungblud dedicate his first ever Grammy to Ozzy Osbourne: “God bless rock music, and god bless fucking Ozzy Osbourne!”

Yungblud has won his first ever Grammy for Best Rock Performance, and has dedicated it to Ozzy Osbourne.

At the ceremony tonight (February 1), the Doncaster musician was on hand to accept the award, having won ahead of of Amyl & The Sniffers, Linkin Park, Turnstile and Hayley Williams.

He won for his live performance of ‘Changes’ at Black Sabbath’s ‘Back To The Beginning’ farewell concert last summer, and to accept the award, he was joined on stage by Ozzy’s widow Sharon Osbourne, who was visibly emotional throughout.

Yungblud gave an impassioned speech, saying: “To grow up loving an idol who helped you develop your identity, not only as a musician, but as a man, is something that I’m truly grateful for. But then to get to know them and to form a relationship with them, and to honour them at their final show, and receive this because of it, is something that I and I think we are finding a bit strange to comprehend.”

“We fucking love you, Ozzy,” he added. “We would all like to thank Sharon, Jack, Kelly and Aimee for this opportunity, and everyone at the Back To The Beginning show. Six generations of rock musicians came together in the name of our genre, in the name of Sabbath and in the name of Ozzy Osbourne.”

“I deeply love this genre, it’s all I’ve ever known. I want to dedicate it to everyone in the guitar shop that I grew up in, and everyone in a guitar shop or in a bedroom with a dream. Rock music’s fucking coming back – watch out pop music, we’ve gonna fucking get ya.”

Yungblud continued: “The last time I saw Ozzy Osbourne, you asked me if there was anything you could do for me. I answered the music was enough. And I can safely say on behalf of all of us, that still stands now and it will do forever. You’ll be with me every time I’m nervous, and on stage at every show.”

“God bless rock music, and god bless fucking Ozzy Osbourne!” he concluded.

Yungblud led a supergroup at ‘Back To The Beginning’, also including Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme on guitar, II from Sleep Token on drums and Adam Wakeman of Ozzy Osbourne’s band – and son of rock legend Rick – on keys.

He also paid tribute to Ozzy at the VMAs in September, joining forces with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith and Bettencourt.
