Watch Yungblud kick off ‘Idols’ UK arena tour with homecoming show

Yungblud returned home to Yorkshire to kick off the UK arena leg of his ‘Idols’ world tour – check out footage below.

The Doncaster-born artist – real name Dominic Harrison – played at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena on Saturday night (April 11) for the first of a run of shows that had to be extended last October due to outstanding demand.

After a busy period that has seen him release the second half of his ‘Idols’ album, hot on the heels of his ‘One More Time’ EP with Aerosmith and his first Grammy win, he played a set that leaned heavy on ‘Idols’, but also saw him reviving his cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Changes’ and playing his Aerosmith collaboration ‘My Only Angel’.

“This album, ‘Idols’, was made in Yorkshire and we brought it home tonight,” he told the crowd. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This album was made in Yorkshire, we toured it all around the world, and we’d like to bring it home, here tonight. If you’re from Yorkshire I love you. If you are not, I love you too but just a little bit less. I’m joking!”

As he brought the set to an end with an encore of ‘Ghosts’, ‘Zombie’ and ‘Suburban Requiem’, he added: “I cannot believe that this community, this family, is getting this big. I could fucking cry right now. You mean everything to me.”

Yungblud played:

‘Hello Heaven, Hello’
‘The Funeral’
‘Idols Pt. I’
‘Lovesick Lullaby’
‘My Only Angel’
‘Fleabag’
‘Lowlife’
‘Changes’
‘I Need You (To Make The World Seem Fine)’
‘Fire’
‘Superdeadfriends’
‘Loner’
‘Ghosts’
‘Zombie’
‘Suburban Requiem’

Yungblud will now go on to play in Liverpool, Belfast, Dublin, Leeds, Cardiff, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham, London and Manchester later this month – see all the info here and find any remaining tickets here.

In a four-star review of both halves of the ‘Idols’ album, NME wrote: “It bookmarks the latest chapter in the story of Dominic Harrison with a fairytale ending, now living with the freedom of thought that once eluded him. Sonically, the double album might not redefine the future of rock, but – as the soundtrack to his most successful era yet – it has helped guarantee the future of Yungblud. He had to “go to hell and back” to get there, but ‘Idols’ and ‘Idols II’ confirm that Dominic Harrison has taken “one step into heaven”.”

Elsewhere, rumours are circling that Yungblud could be in line to play Ozzy Osbourne in an upcoming biopic, and he has admitted he would love to record a James Bond theme with Oasis.

The third edition of his BludFest, meanwhile, will be heading to Czechia in June, after being held in Milton Keynes for its first two years.
