Wolf Alice, Iron Maiden, Nova Twins and Architects named Album Champions for National Album Day 2025

Wolf Alice, Iron Maiden, Nova Twins and Architects have been named Album Champions for National Album Day 2025.

The annual celebration of the music format returns on Saturday October 18, and this year will be a celebration of rock music.

Each act will spearhead promotional efforts in the lead-up to the event.

Since its inception in 2018, the campaign has united artists, fans, and industry leaders to honour the album as a storytelling vessel and cultural touchstone.

This year’s theme pays homage to the rich tapestry of British rock – from punk and metal to alt-pop and hip-hop – highlighting the genre’s evolution and its global influence. The chosen champions represent the genre’s diversity and dynamism, each bringing their own sonic signature to the celebration.

Wolf Alice bandleader Ellie Rowsell said: “Albums are so important to us—it’s one of the most romantic parts of being a band. You get to create a little world, a snapshot of time, tell a story, spread a message or none of those things at all. There’s no formula, and that’s why it’s so exciting.”

Rock duo Nova Twins – comprising Amy Love and Georgia South – commented: “Listening to a favourite album is a form of escapism. They’re portals to different moments in time, each one marking a significant memory. A single just isn’t enough to capture the full picture.”

Metalcore outfit Architects’ frontman Sam Carter said: “Albums have always been a big deal for us. Each one takes me right back to the time we recorded it. I hope albums always remain as important to music lovers as they are now.”

Iron Maiden’s frontman Bruce Dickinson said: “Albums matter. The rush of first seeing the vinyl or CD never leaves you. It’s great that fans are coming full circle to enjoy that experience again.”

The legendary heavy metal band’s manager Rod Smallwood added: “Back in the day, the album did the heavy lifting—it launched tours, marketed the band, and birthed a new Eddie. It was the ultimate connection with fans.”

Over the years, countless artists including Kylie Minogue, Joy Crookes, Sharleen Spiteri, Lewis Capaldi, Mark Ronson, La Roux, Elbow, Paloma Faith, Blossoms, and Alice Cooper have supported National Album Day.
