Wolf Alice share tender new song ‘Gospel Oak’ from ‘The Clearing: B-sides’ and share Finsbury Park stage times

Wolf Alice have released ‘Gospel Oak’ from a new set of ‘The Clearing’ B-sides and announced their Finsbury Park stage times for this weekend.

‘Gospel Oak’ is the first of three songs from a new 7” B-sides package, with ‘Hammond Song’ and ‘Hit The Sky’ set to be released digitally over the coming weeks. The three tracks will get a physical release on August 21, on the first anniversary of ‘The Clearing’. Pre-order it here.

The release of ‘Gospel Oak’ comes just days ahead of their huge homecoming show at Finsbury Park this Sunday (July 5), where they will be joined by The Last Dinner Party, Lykke Li, Rachel Chinouriri, Keo and Florence Road.

Taking its name from the North London area just up the road from Finsbury Park, ‘Gospel Oak’ is a delicate, piano-led number that was inspired by folk songs and songs “we all learn at school”, according to frontwoman Ellie Rowsell.

Listen to ‘Gospel Oak’ here:

The band have said of the three-track release: “These are a few songs we made during ‘The Clearing’ that didn’t make it on the final record, but are ones we love very much, including a cover with two of our fave singers Julia Cumming and Bria Salmena – we’re happy to have found a home for them for you to hear. Enjoy.”

‘Gospel Oak’ and ‘Hit The Sky’ were both performed live at Wolf Alice’s Royal Albert Hall show for Teenage Cancer Trust in March, where the band were joined by folk musicians for a special section of the set.

‘Hit The Sky’ was given its live debut during the show, while ‘Gospel Oak’ saw Rowsell become visibly emotional before being cheered on by the Royal Albert Hall crowd.

The band also closed the set with ‘Hammond Song’, a cover of The Roches’ 1979 song, which is expected to feature Sunflower Bean’s Julia Cumming and Toronto artist Bria Salmena on the studio version.

All three songs are expected to make the setlist at Finsbury Park this weekend.

Stage times for the Finsbury Park show have also now been shared, with gates opening at 12pm. Florence Road will kick off the music at 1:40pm, followed by Keo at 2:40pm, Rachel Chinouriri at 3:40pm, Lykke Li at 4:50pm and The Last Dinner Party at 6:10pm, before Wolf Alice headline from 7:50pm.

The show is the final night in a run of huge Finsbury Park gigs this weekend. Biffy Clyro will headline the park on Friday (July 3), joined by Nothing But Thieves, Don Broco, Marmozets and Wavves, while Kasabian will top the bill on Saturday (July 4), with support from Louis Dunford, Razorlight, The K’s, Miles Kane and SOFY.

Wolf Alice released ‘The Clearing’ last August, with the record going on to become their second UK Number One album. In a five-star review, NME wrote that the album saw the band “settling into new levels of self-acceptance and self-assurance”.

The album was also shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, making Wolf Alice the first band in the prize’s history to be nominated for all of their first four albums. They later won Group Of The Year at the 2026 BRIT Awards, where Rowsell used the band’s acceptance speech to call for more support for grassroots music venues.

The band have had a busy year so far, recently performing ‘White Horses’ and ‘Leaning Against The Wall’ on SNL UK, before closing out the 2026 Teenage Cancer Trust series at the Royal Albert Hall.

Wolf Alice are also set to support Olivia Rodrigo on the opening North American leg of her huge ‘Unraveled Tour’ later this year, alongside other special guests including The Last Dinner Party, Devon Again, Die Spitz and Grace Ives.
