Yumi Tamura’s ‘Mystery to Iu Nakare’ Vol. 16 Tops Billboard Japan Book Hot 100

Yumi Tamura’s Mystery to Iu Nakare (Don’t Call It Mystery) Vol. 16 rises to No. 1 on Billboard Japan’s Book Hot 100 chart, for the list released Feb. 25.

The latest installment of the popular series takes the top spot after debuting at No. 2 last week. The volume rules the physical stores metric and comes in at No. 5 for e-books, while also landing within the top 100 in both EC (e-commerce) and social media.

Debuting at No. 2 is the latest comic adaptation of Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou Desu (The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent), which depicts the story of an office worker adapting to life in a fantasy world where she is suddenly transported. The volume leads the e-book metric this week.

Following at No. 3 is Kinou Nani Tabeta? (What Did You Eat Yesterday?) Vol. 25, a series by Fumi Yoshinaga about a middle-aged gay couple that has also gained popularity through live-action drama and film adaptations. The volume lands within the top 10 across physical stores, EC, and e-books.

Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) Vol. 31 remains within the top 5 in its second week after debuting atop the chart in the prior frame. Meanwhile, the latest volume of Akatsuki no Yona (Yona of the Dawn), now entering its climax, hits No. 2 in e-books and No. 5 in both physical stores and EC, finishing at No. 5 overall.

The Japan Book Hot 100 is a comprehensive chart combining physical sales, e-books, library loans, subscription data and social media activity. See the top 10 titles on this week’s list, tracking the period from Feb. 16 to 22.
