Yungblud breaks his leg in motorbike accident, vows to still play European festivals this week

Yungblud has broken his leg in a motorbike accident, but has vowed to go ahead with his planned live tour dates.

The Doncaster artist (real name Dominic Harrison) took to social media on Sunday (August 16) to share some images of himself on crutches with an injured leg, which has been bandaged up.

“Leg fucked. Still giggin. Still standin (sort of),” he wrote, before confirming that he’ll still be performing at European festivals Pukkelpop and CA Vilar de Mouros this week.

“Portugal and Belgium I’m comin and it’s gonna be fucking mad,” Harrison continued. “See you next week. Let’s ride.”

According to Billboard, a representative for Yungblud confirmed that he broke his leg in a minor motorbike accident at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota last week.

He played a live set at the event on August 9, per Setlist.FM. This followed a recent performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago last month, among other North American dates. He has also performed at some other European events this summer, including the Czechia edition of BludFest.

Yungblud is out on the road in support of his double album, ‘Idols’, the second part of which arrived earlier this year. During a recent concert in Montana, Harrison brought a couple up onstage to reveal their baby’s gender.

In other news, Smashing Pumpkins invited Yungblud to join them on stage when they headlined Lollapalooza last month.

Elsewhere, Harrison pulled out of his appearance at Cowboys Music Festival in Calgary this summer, saying he was taking time off to “work on myself”.

“I’m taking this extremely seriously and facing head on what’s going on for the good of the long term,” he said. “I will never take any of this for granted and I will see you all soon. I love you all.”

Yungblud won his first Grammy this year for Best Rock Performance for his live cover of ‘Changes’ at Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell show.

In a four-star review of both halves of ‘Idols’, NME wrote: “It bookmarks the latest chapter in the story of Dominic Harrison with a fairytale ending, now living with the freedom of thought that once eluded him. Sonically, the double album might not redefine the future of rock, but – as the soundtrack to his most successful era yet – it has helped guarantee the future of Yungblud.”
