Yungblud to Play ‘Schizophrenic Amalgamation of the Greatest Music’ on Sirius XM Show

Yungblud to Play ‘Schizophrenic Amalgamation of the Greatest Music’ on Sirius XM Show

Yungblud will play an eclectic mix of whatever he feels like playing on a new Sirius XM show, Yungblud Radio, that will air at 10 p.m. ET on Mondays on the digital broadcaster’s Alt Nation channel (Number 36). The first episode arrives tonight.

He describes his taste as a “schizophrenic amalgamation of the greatest music of all time.” Just how eclectic will it be? A sample playlist that Sirius XM sent Rolling Stone includes not just Fontaines D.C.’s “Here’s the Thing” and Sam Fender’s “People Watching” but also Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and a concert recording of Ozzy Osbourne’s “Flying High Again.” He also intends to play music by Oasis, the Cure, and Arctic Monkeys.

“Radio has always been such an iconic format to me,” Yungblud tells Rolling Stone. “Some of my earliest memories when discovering music was because of radio. Now, to have my own show on SiriusXM, broadcasting all over North America is something I’m so proud of. To be able to listen to music with all of you is gonna be such a riot. I’ll be on the air every Monday, baby! Tune into Yungblud Radio if you dare.”

Trending Stories

A teaser video for the channel shows Yungblud discussing “Siriusly Obscure” shit about himself. The trivia includes the best chippie in his hometown of Doncaster, England, his admiration for Marie Antoinette’s “rock star” attitude when she knew she was going to die, and how a teacher knew his love of ancient Rome ran so deep that when she gave all the other kids footballs, she gave him a textbook on the Holy Roman Empire. “I fucking love gladiators,” he says. He also used the video to clarify rumors that he gets lip fillers (Spoiler: He does not). And getting back to music, when asked for a song he thinks doesn’t get enough airplay, he named the Unplugged version of Stone Temple Pilots’ “Crackerman.”

Of course, anyone following Yungblud’s career already knows his tastes are catholic. He teamed up with Smashing Pumpkins for a remix of his “Zombie.”  He won a Grammy for his rendition of Black Sabbath’s “Changes,” which he’d performed at Ozzy Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning concert with members of Extreme, Anthrax, and Sleep Token. And he sang “Wild Woman” with Aerosmith and Lainey Wilson. How many genres was that?
