Zach Bryan Cancels Tulsa Performance Due to ‘Dangerous Weather’: ‘I’ve Never Canceled a Show in My Life’

The singer-songwriter is currently on tour in support of his chart-topping album, With Heaven on Top

As thunderstorms roll across Oklahoma, local weather stations have issued warnings of a “low tornado threat,” damaging winds, and “ping pong sized hail.” The extreme forecasts have forced singer-songwriter Zach Bryan to cancel his Friday show in Tulsa.

In a letter addressed to his “fellow Oklahomans” and posted to social media, Zach announced: “I am being forced by my team to cancel the show tonight due to the threat of extreme and dangerous weather.” He added, “I’ve never canceled a show in my life but I unfortunately don’t have a choice in the matter.”

In his statement, Bryan said that refunds would be issued automatically and that Saturday’s show on April 4 would go ahead as planned. In the post’s caption, he wrote, “5 years of touring I’ve never cancelled a headlining show. I pissed off plenty people this morning trying to ‘play anyways.’ If I had ANY say in this, things would be different I apologize and I love all of ya.”

The singer-songwriter also included a screenshot of a text from someone who appeared to be from his team. “I know you’re gonna hate me for this, but we have no choice but to cancel the show. I just had a meeting with the police, school, and meteorologists and the consensus is that we would be putting people’s safety at risk by trying to put on the show,” read the message from the sender. Bryan replied, “Are you kidding.”

Bryan is currently on the first leg of his massive world tour in support of his chart-topping album, With Heaven on Top. The trek kicked off March 7 at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis and will wrap May 9 at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. Following a run of shows in the U.K. and Europe, the singer will launch another North American run July 31 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego and close out the tour Oct. 10 at Jordan-Hare stadium in Auburn, Alabama.
