Zara Larsson denies being asked to replace Camila Cabello after her Fifth Harmony exit

Zara Larsson has denied that she was approached about joining Fifth Harmony after Camila Cabello’s departure.

The Midnight Sun hitmaker has addressed rumours claiming that she was offered to take Cabello’s spot after the Havana singer quit the girl group in 2016.

Speaking in the Spotify Live Room, Larsson denied the speculation and added, “Oh, no. I don’t do groups. I would never be in a group.”

The 28-year-old Swedish singer explained that she’s “a big fan of girl groups” and feels “like the girl groups are coming back big time”, however, she would want to be “front centre” if she were ever part of one.

“I love a girl group,” she added. “I just couldn’t take not singing lead all the time.”

The Lush Life singer toured with Fifth Harmony in 2014 when they were the opening acts on Cher Lloyd’s I Wish tour.

Reflecting on that time, Larsson shared, “I actually loved to be on that tour. That’s memories for life. What a good time that was. What an era.”

Fifth Harmony, comprised of Cabello, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui and Normani, formed on The X Factor USA in 2012 and enjoyed success with singles like Worth It, Work From Home and That’s My Girl.

Cabello left the group in 2016 to pursue a solo career, and they continued as a four-piece until 2018, when they went on an indefinite hiatus.

In August last year, Fifth Harmony reunited without Cabello for a surprise performance at a Jonas Brothers show.

According to reports, they are also planning to properly reunite this year for a tour to mark the 10-year anniversary of their second studio album, 7/27, and Work From Home.
