On what would have been Bob Marley’s birthday, February 6th, nine-time GRAMMY Award-winning icon Ziggy Marley has released a deeply personal new single, “Many Mourn For Bob.” The track serves as a profound meditation on the enduring legacy of his father and marks the first time in Ziggy’s storied career that he has dedicated an original song specifically to the reggae legend.

A Rediscovery Through Music

The song evolved during Ziggy’s time producing the 2024 biopic Bob Marley: One Love. That period of reflection allowed him to view his father’s life through a “new pair of eyes,” bridging the gap between his childhood memories and the global impact of the Marley name.

“‘Many mourn for Bob’ is a reflection on my father from the deepest parts of my heart and subconscious mind,” Ziggy explains.

The accompanying music video reinforces this intimacy, featuring rare, private images of Ziggy’s childhood spent alongside his father.

Announcing ‘Brightside’: A Sonic Healing

Alongside the tribute, Ziggy has announced his ninth solo studio album, “Brightside.” This project departs from his previous work both creatively and technically. Most notably, the entire album was recorded using 432Hz.

While the standard tuning for modern music is 440Hz, the 432Hz frequency is often cited in mindful practices for its soothing, warm, and soulful depth. This technical choice underscores the album’s core intent: to provide a “healing” sonic experience for the listener.

Release Schedule and Tracklisting

Fans can look forward to a staggered release of Brightside via V2:

Vinyl Release: 18th April
Digital Release: 1st May

Brightside Tracklisting:

“Many Mourn For Bob” is out now on all major streaming platforms.
