Tekashi 6ix9ine Sentenced to Three Months in Prison for Probation Violations

Controversial and oft-troubled rapper punished again after police raid found drugs at his home in March

Tekashi 6ix9ine was sentenced to three months in prison Friday following the rapper’s latest probation violation.

The sentence stems from a pair of incidents the rapper born Daniel Hernandez was involved in earlier this year while still under supervised release following his involvement in a New York gang case: In March, a police raid of Hernandez’s Miami home found small amounts of cocaine and ecstasy, followed five months later by the rapper punching a man who taunted him at a Florida mall.

“From time to time your actions suggest that you believe that ordinary rules don’t apply to you,” the judge overseeing the case told Hernandez Friday during sentencing (via The Associated Press). Hernandez was then ordered to report to Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn on Jan. 6, 2026.

This marks the second time Hernandez was ordered back to prison for probation violations following his plea deal in the federal racketeering and firearms case. Back in November 2024, Hernandez was sentenced to a month behind bars for failing to attend a scheduled drug test, subsequently testing positive for methamphetamine (he claimed Adderall), and then traveling to Las Vegas without permission, where he was detained.

In 2018, Hernández was arrested in New York on racketeering and firearm charges, related to his involvement with the Nine Trey Bloods gang. After initially pleading not guilty, Hernandez entered into a plea deal in February 2019 and pleaded guilty to nine charges, admitting that he had ordered a Nine Trey member to shoot at rival rapper Chief Keef.

The controversial rapper’s sentencing Friday is part of a long list of legal issues he has faced for nearly a decade.

Last month, Hernandez claimed his Florida home was robbed while he was away, with his mother reportedly “held” while masked men “ran inside and ransacked the property.”
