U.S. President Donald Trump has no intention of granting a pardon to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.

In a report published in The New York Times on Thursday, Trump revealed that the disgraced music mogul “asked me for a pardon” at an undisclosed date “through a letter”.

Pressed for further details, the American leader commented, “Oh, would you like to see that letter?”

However, Trump did not end up producing the note for reporters to see and indicated that he wouldn’t be granting the request.

A spokesperson for the 79-year-old later confirmed Combs had asked him for a pardon but declined to add any further comment.

Last July, Combs was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

Three months later, a judge sentenced him to 50 months in prison. Combs has been behind bars since his arrest in September 2024.

Back in May 2025, Trump was asked whether he would consider pardoning the Bad Boy Records founder at a media briefing, having called him a “friend” over a decade earlier.

The politician claimed the relationship “busted up” when he ran for the presidency in 2016 and that Combs made “nasty statements” about him at the time.

“I haven’t seen him, I haven’t spoken to him for years,” he said. “I don’t know. I would certainly look at the facts. If I think somebody was mistreated it wouldn’t matter whether they like me or don’t.”

Representatives for Combs have not yet commented on the update.
