American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan is on track to secure his second UK Number 1 single, as his latest release, “The Great Divide,” takes an early lead in this week’s Official Chart First Look.

The track marks Kahan’s first solo return in nearly three years and serves as the title track for his highly anticipated new album, set to drop on Friday, April 24. Kahan is no stranger to the summit of the UK charts; he earned his maiden Number 1 back in 2023 with the global phenomenon “Stick Season,” which dominated the top spot for seven consecutive weeks.

However, the race is far from over. Harry Styles currently holds the Number 2 position with his latest track, “Aperture.” With Styles celebrating his birthday this week, industry insiders aren’t ruling out a late-week surge from his dedicated fanbase to reclaim the top spot.

Further down the charts, a legendary name is making a significant impact. Bruce Springsteen’s stoic protest song, “Streets of Minneapolis,” is currently tracking at Number 16. If it holds its position, it will mark “The Boss’s” first appearance in the UK Top 20 since 1997’s “Secret Garden.” Meanwhile, The Cure is enjoying a continued resurgence with “Boys Don’t Cry,” which is poised to climb 16 places to a potential new peak at Number 20.

The mid-week update also shows strong movement for Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, whose collaboration “Die With A Smile” is climbing back up to Number 23. K-Pop group HUNTR/X is also making waves, with both “What It Sounds Like” and “How It’s Done” projected to jump 11 spots each into the Top 30.

Fresh talent is also breaking through. December 10, the new boyband formed on the Netflix series Simon Cowell: The Next Act, is eyeing a debut at Number 32 with “Run My Way.” They are joined by country artist Ella Langley, whose track “Choosin’ Texas” has leaped 18 places to Number 33. Finally, David Guetta’s star-studded collaboration “Gone Gone Gone,” featuring Teddy Swims and Tones and I, is making a massive 36-position jump, currently sitting at Number 36.
