Finneas hits back at critics of Billie Eilish’s Grammys Speech

Finneas has slammed critics of Billie Eilish following her politically-charged speech at this year’s Grammy Awards.

The 28-year-old musician came to the defence of his sister and songwriting partner after her remarks during the ceremony sparked backlash online and quickly went viral.

Billie used her acceptance speech to criticise U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, encouraging the audience and viewers to “keep fighting”.

Taking to Threads on Wednesday, Finneas said the speech had caused “outrage” among certain people.

“Seeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24 year old sister said during her acceptance speech,” he wrote. “We can literally see your names in the Epstein files.”

He later reposted another Thread that read, “Every two weeks the most cartoonishly evil men on earth get mad at Billie Eilish for saying ‘what if we could make the world a better place :)’ lol.”

Billie took to the stage at the Grammys on Sunday after winning the Song of the Year award for her 2024 track Wildflower. She was among several celebrities wearing “ICE OUT” pins in protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything but that… no one is illegal on stolen land,” she stated in her speech. “And, yeah it’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now.”

“I feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting. Our voices really do matter and the people matter,” the hitmaker continued. “And f**k ICE is all I wanna say, sorry.”
