Interpol have kicked off their 2026 live shows, with Urian Hackney joining them as a touring drummer. Check out footage and the setlist here.
The indie giants launched their first shows of the world tour at the James L. Knight Center in Miami on Saturday (March 7), and the gig came shortly after the band revealed that drummer Sam Fogarino was unable to resume live duties.
Fogarino, who joined the New York City band in 2000, underwent spinal surgery in 2023 and stepped back from touring, with Chris Broome stepping in. The following year, Fogarino told fans that, despite the surgery and recovery being successful, he was still “dealing with continued health issues,” leading to Broome joining up with the band again.
Now, they’ve kicked off their North and South American tour, with Urian Hackney stepping up to fill the role.
The band opened the show with back to back renditions of ‘All the Rage Back Home’, ‘No I in Threesome’, ‘C’mere’, ‘Not Even Jail’ and ‘Rest My Chemistry’, before breaking out tracks like ‘Narc’, ‘The Rover’, ‘Into the Night’, ‘Evil’ and ‘Lights’.
There were 19 songs in the full setlist, and the band wrapped up with ‘NYC’ and ‘PDA’, before returning to the stage to play ‘Pioneer to the Falls’, ‘Roland’, and ‘Slow Hands’ for the encore.

The tour launching comes amid widespread rumours of new music on the way from Interpol, which will be their first since 2022’s ‘The Other Side of Make-Believe’.
Representatives confirmed as far back as August 2024 that they were working on it with that Fogarino was involved amid his continued recovery, and the band said last week that the new material would be “coming soon”.
Despite that, the setlist for the opening tour night in Florida has seen no new material being previewed.
The band have spoken out about the upcoming music for a while now, and back in 2024 NME asked frontman Paul Banks for an update, to which he said that the new record was sounding “quite high energy”.
“[It’s] pretty great, to be honest with you. I’m pretty pumped about the stuff that we have worked on so far. That’s all I can really say: it’s an enthusiastic ‘yes’. It’s pretty cool,” he said. “With this [next] record, we’re getting back to writing together in a room and my favourite tracks so far are quite high energy.”
Then, last July, guitarist Daniel Kessler gave us more updates after he returned with his side-project Big Noble.
Asked about how things were progressing with the new Interpol record, he said: “Good, we’re very far along. It feels great. We’ve still got a little bit of work to do, but it’s really getting there. We’re all really excited about the results and the feel of it. It will be coming out next year.”
When asked for details about the sound and what fans can expect, he added: “There are some upbeat tracks, but also some different atmospherics that I don’t think we’ve had before. There are different moods. It’s not all rock; some of it is more upbeat in a different kind of way to what people might think of Interpol. It’s been a really fun process.”
Already, some fans have been taking to social media to share their thoughts on the first gig of 2026, and share their surprise at no new material making it into the setlist.
“New music coming soon but no new song yesterday, that was a bit surprising! Great show anyway,” one person wrote on X, while someone else shared on YouTube: “I’m really looking forward to seeing them in Lima, it’s a shame they didn’t play ‘Toni’, I hope they do.”
“It’s great to see the band together, I hope you can play something new for us in Brazil,” one wrote on Instagram, and someone else commented: “music announcement is amazing news still a bit bittersweet with no Sam attendance in the time being. Wishing a good recovery for him”.

After Interpol wrap up their North and South American dates in April with a set during Coachella’s second weekend – find tickets to those shows here – they’ll head to Australia and New Zealand in May to support Deftones.
After that, they’ve got a run of European shows across July and August, including a support slot with My Chemical Romance in Italy.
Then, on August 23, they’ll join up with Deftones again to support them at London’s All Points East x Outbreak as part of a stacked line-up also featuring IDLES, Amyl & The Sniffers, AFI, Esdeekid, JPEGMAFIA, Deafheaven, ¥øu$Uk€ ¥uk1mat$U and Mannequin Pussy.
At the end of the year, they’re rounding off the year with a co-headline tour alongside Bloc Party in the UK and Europe, including two huge shows at London’s upcoming British Airways ARC venue. Find tickets to those shows here.
