Lambrini Girls reschedule North American tour and pull out of Coachella after Phoebe Lunny reveals neck fracture and “acute brain injury”

Lambrini Girls have pulled out of Coachella and rescheduled their North American tour due to singer Phoebe Lunny sustaining a neck fracture and an “acute brain injury”.

The Brighton punk duo appeared to have dropped off the Coachella line-up earlier today (April 8) and now in an Instagram post, they have revealed the reason for their absence.

“We have to pull out of Coachella and reschedule our whole American headline tour,” the post read. “Long story short: I fractured my neck and have an acute brain injury.”

Lunny went on to reveal that the accident happened in Australia and was initially “misdiagnosed”, but she is now under “doctors orders” that forbid her to fly or perform for the next six weeks.

They confirmed that all of their UK and European shows are still going ahead as scheduled from late May, and you can find the new North American dates below, and find any remaining tickets here.

“To all American ticket holders: it’s dark times, especially in the states,” the post continued. “There are so many good folks who are carving out community and lifting each other up in the face of fascism. Making space for subversion and resistance is at the core of what this band is about.”

“Seeing people of all ages, genders and backgrounds come together to mosh, lift each other up, chant, cry, scream in both parts joyful and angry, is my greatest joy.”

“We have received quite a lot of messages re Coachella, we are so gutted guys. We want to be there so badly. If it was a broken leg, I would do a Dave Grohl and play it. This isn’t something we are taking lightly and we are really sad. We hope and pray there’s some universe we get to play next year instead.”

Lunny concluded: “Because it is my neck and brain, our hands are tied for now, but I’m lucky and expect a speedy recovery thank fuck lol.”

Lambrini Girls will now play:

JUNE
16 – New York, Warsaw
17 – Boston, Paradise Rock Club
19 – Montreal, Beanfield Theatre
20 – Toronto, The Concert Hall

SEPTEMBER
27 – Indianapolis, The Vogue
28 – Detroit, Majestic Theatre
29 – Chicago, Vic Theatre (upgrade from Metro)

OCTOBER
1 – Kansas City, Granada
2 – St Louis, Delmar Hall
4 – Atlanta, Variety Playhouse
5 – Asheville, Orange Peel

The duo recently shared a tongue-in-cheek new single called ‘Cult Of Celebrity’, which sees them take aim at the corruption among the elite.

That followed on from them sharing their debut album ‘Who Let The Dogs Out‘ last year. NME praised that record in a five-star review, writing: “With ‘Who Let The Dogs Out’, Lambrini Girls prove punk is alive and kicking. They’re unapologetically amplifying chaos, calling out societal wrongs, and daring us all to feel something. This record is loud, raw, and impossible to ignore.”
