Jonny Greenwood names one Radiohead song he wanted to change

Jonny Greenwood has revealed which Radiohead song he would have liked to change.

In a new interview with Mojo Magazine, the guitarist shared that he pushed for the ‘In Rainbows’ track ‘House of Cards’ to have a more punk arrangement during the recording process.

“There are songs I feel like we could have better arrangements for, but everyone else seems to like. I was convinced that ‘House of Cards’ should sound like an Iggy Pop track,” he told the magazine.

However, he says he’s now glad that the fan-favourite track ended up the way it did, adding: “But I can accept that it would probably have killed something beautiful and tender.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Greenwood said that Radiohead’s return to touring was “incredible”. It comes after the iconic British band returned to the stage last year for what marked their first live dates in seven years – kicking off across Europe at the end of 2025, and including a four-night residency at The O2 in London.

The tour saw them play in the round, picking from a range of 65 songs every night. “You hear of other bands getting together and having multiple managers and multiple sound people. We seem very blessed,” he added.

He went on to say that he missed making new music with the band, with their latest full-length record, ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’, released in 2016.

It comes after all five members of Radiohead formed a new private limited company in February, suggesting that the band were planning something in the near future. Their latest full-length record, ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’, was released in 2016.

In a previous interview, Greenwood acknowledged that all members are “doing new music elsewhere now” – with the guitarist recently nominated for an Oscar for scoring One Battle After Another.

At the time, he went on to say that he had “no idea” whether Radiohead might release new material. “I mean, I’m surprised that the tour actually happened and that we all enjoyed it so much,” he said. “But venues get booked so far in advance. To do another we would have to decide now, and even then it wouldn’t happen for 18 months.”

Ed O’Brien also recently revealed that Radiohead have plans to hit the road in 2027 and beyond. “What we’re going to do is, every year we’re going to do a different continent, and we’re going to do 20 shows each year. No more, no less,” he said. “We won’t do anything this year, but we’ll do something next year.”

O’Brien is releasing his second solo album ‘Blue Morpho’ on May 22 and will be touring around the UK and Europe in October. He also recently confirmed that Thom Yorke will be releasing a solo album this year, although that has not yet been announced.

In other news, their new installation, ‘Motion Picture House: KID A MNESIA’, debuted recently at Coachella 2026.
