Mariah Carey on latest Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction snub: ‘Who cares?’

Mariah Carey has insisted she is unfazed after being overlooked once again by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The Hero singer was not selected for induction into the famed music institution for a third consecutive year.

Speaking to TMZ in New York on Monday, Carey was asked whether she felt frustrated at missing out again. She responded simply, “No.”

The All I Want for Christmas Is You star went on to stress that the omission had little impact on her.

“I love my fans, always,” she told the reporter, before being reminded of her extensive list of accolades.

“Who cares? Like, give it to somebody else, fantastic,” she declared.

The five-time Grammy winner became eligible for the Rock Hall in 2016 and received her first nomination in 2024. Despite a record-breaking career, including 19 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and six chart-topping albums on the Billboard 200, she has yet to be inducted.

Carey recently released her 16th studio album, Here for It All, in September.

This year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees include Oasis, Phil Collins, Wu-Tang Clan, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Sade and the late Luther Vandross.

Carey was not alone – Lauryn Hill, Pink, Shakira, Jeff Buckley, The Black Crowes, INXS, New Edition and Melissa Etheridge were also nominated but failed to secure enough votes.

The 2026 induction ceremony is set to take place on 14 November in Los Angeles, before airing on ABC and Disney+ in December.
