Offset reveals he was ‘hit in hip’ during Florida shooting

Offset has revealed he was hit in the hip during a recent shooting.

On 6 April, the former Migos rapper – real name Kiari Cephus – was rushed to hospital after being hit with a bullet while standing near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Offset was discharged after being treated for his injuries and performed while sitting in a wheelchair and a large armchair at Rowfest in Arkansas just five days later.

During a recent appearance on the Creators Inc. Podcast, host Andy Bachman asked the hip-hop star how he managed to get back onstage so quickly.

“People get shot every day. You got to keep pushing. Like Energizer Bunny, man. Keep this s**t pushing,” he began. “The show don’t ever stop at the end of the day. I was blessed enough to be able to still move. So, I’m still moving.”

Offset went on to insist he was feeling “blessed” that he was “hit in my hip” by the bullet.

“The grind don’t stop bro. I don’t want nobody feel sorry for me or no s**t like that,” the 34-year-old added. “Like I’m blessed. I can keep pushing. So why would I just sit down? I got to keep pushing. I got to keep going.”

A week after the incident, Offset issued his first statement about the shooting.

“Thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me and showed me love! I’m good…. but I’m planning to be better,” he wrote. “I’m focused on my family, my recovery, and getting back to the music…. realizing that life is made up of quiet wins and loud losses…”

The father-of-six concluded, “Life’s a gamble and I’m still playing to win.”

As yet, nobody has been formally charged over the shooting.

Fellow rapper Lil Tjay, born Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct in connection with the incident and released from custody the same day.
