Lizzo has hit back at fans accusing her of throwing shade at Taylor Swift, insisting that she’s “never talked shit about any artist”.

The Grammy-winning singer, who releases her fifth album ‘Bitch’ next Friday (June 5), recently responded to a post on X/Twitter that compared figures for her 2025 mixtape ‘My Face Hurts From Smiling’ to those of Swift’s latest record, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’.
“Can someone explain what this means?” Lizzo asked her followers, to which someone replied: “It means all that shit talking you did about Tay finally caught up to you.”
In a quote tweet, she fired back: “Are you well? First of all I have never talked shit about Taylor Swift – also while we on the subject I’ve never talked shit about any artist. Just because I mention an artist by name does not mean I’m talking shit – grow tf up pls.”
Later, Lizzo responded to a post about why she was “interacting with a bunch of stan accounts lately”. She wrote:” So… I haven’t been on Twitter in a while so I’m used to interacting [with] tweets that I think are funny.
“Didn’t realise this whole bitch became stanland 😭.”

She also dismissed a claim that she was throwing “shade” at Olivia Rodrigo, who is releasing her new album ‘You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love’ on June 12.
“WOAH! [I] would never shade Olivia Rodrigo I think she’s amazing,” Lizzo said.
“Maybe I’ll stop interacting [with] stan accounts so there’s no confusion – I need Twitter to give yall a orange check or something.”

Lizzo retweeted a post about how she was “actually succeeding in getting people to talk about her again” with her social media strategy in the run-up to ‘Bitch’, and another that said she’d “found a way to get people talking”.
She agreed that she “took a page out of Cardi [B‘s] 2025 rollout”, too, writing: “Hol up – I’ve publicly said Cardi’s rollout changed the game and that I’m inspired by it. She’s one of the reasons I’m going so hard now.
“I’m not speaking for anyone else cus idk they tea. But me, I definitely took notes honey.”
Lizzo has since shared the full tracklist for ‘Bitch’, which includes the recently released title track and the single ‘Don’t Make Me Love U’. See below.

In other news, Lizzo has hit out at “racist” and “fatphobic” algorithms for “destroying the music industry” and hampering her album promotion.
‘Bitch’ follows on from 2022’s ‘Special’. In a four-star review of the latter, NME wrote: “Perhaps inevitably, given Lizzo’s overwhelmingly positive message, ‘Special’ is sometimes a bit cheesy. Still, it’s cheesy in a way you won’t want to resist.”
It added: “Lizzo knows exactly who she is as an artist and what she wants to achieve: she’s the bad bitch with an incredible talent for making people feel good.”
Meanwhile, the star has said she’ll keep fighting the lawsuit brought by three former backup dancers, claiming that “the truth is less salacious than the headlines”.
Earlier this year, Lizzo revealed that she vowed to remain a virgin until winning a Grammy, and then lost her virginity in 2020 when she won three. She also shared that she did not have her “first kiss” until she was 21.
