Phoebe Bridgers announces surprise last-minute Madison Square Garden show – and tickets are just $1

Phoebe Bridgers has announced a surprise show at Madison Square Garden this week, with tickets starting at $1 – see all the details below.

The California singer-songwriter has been playing around North America in recent weeks on her ‘Spring Pop-Up Tour’, and has now confirmed that she will play at the iconic New York City venue on Thursday night (June 4).

Tickets for the show are available through Tidal and due to an expected “overwhelming” demand, they will be randomly allocated to fans that register before midnight tonight (June 1) here.

Fans can choose to pay either $1, $5, $10 or $20, with some of the money to be donated to the Community Justice Exchange’s Immigration Bond Freedom Fund, which provides aid to people in immigration detention. The site clearly states that the amount fans pay will not influence their chances of being selected for tickets.

JUST ANNOUNCED: Phoebe Bridgers will perform at The Garden this Thu, June 4! Ticket registration is open now through TONIGHT June 1 at 11:59PM ET. For registration access and more info, visit https://t.co/kdyVEpKxwZ pic.twitter.com/rCkJEJ9cYL

All registered fans will be emailed on Tuesday (June 2) to be informed whether they have been selected for a ticket. Seat locations will be randomly assigned.

The show will operate with a policy that will not allow cellphones, smart watches, smart glasses, cameras or recording devices, using lockable pouches from Yondr. Fans will also be asked for consent to be recorded audiovisually, suggesting that the show may be recorded for future release.

Bridgers played her first live solo live show in three years earlier this month in Roswell, New Mexico, where she debuted three new songs and strongly indicated that a new album is on its way. Fans received exclusive cards at the show that could be combined to make up the possible artwork for the record.

She has not released a solo album since 2020’s ‘Punisher’, which NME named as the fifth best album of that year and noted: “Introspective, with a sense of solitude woven throughout, ‘Punisher’ found Bridgers asserting herself as an individual force through self-production and pragmatic collaboration. The result: a multifaceted ode to embracing life’s oddities and living in the moment.”

Since then, Bridgers has performed with Boygenius alongside Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, although they announced they were going on hiatus after the completion of their critically acclaimed album ‘The Record’ in 2023, which was named NME’s album of the year.

In other Bridgers news, rumours emerged last year that she might be set to appear in Primetime, an upcoming A24 film starring Robert Pattinson.

The movie reportedly follows a journalist – played by Pattinson – who ends up changing the landscape of television after taking on the undercover world of crime. It appears to have been inspired by the American reality series To Catch A Predator, and is due for release this September.
