Gracie Abrams stopped by The Tonight Show to perform her song “Minibar” and to chat with host Jimmy Fallon about her new album, Daughter From Hell. The singer took the late-night show stage, illuminated with a brilliant red backdrop, and offered an impassioned take on the song.

Daughter From Hell, out today, was produced by the National’s Aaron Dessner, who also produced Abrams’ first two albums Good Riddance and The Secret of Us. Since the singer-songwriter unveiled the album in May, she’s released two upbeat singles about crashing out, “Hit the Wall,” and “Look at My Life,” the latter of which became an instant fan-favorite. Her performance on The Tonight Show marks the TV debut of “Minibar.”

Abrams told Fallon that the album’s is a reflection of how she was a child. “I was brutal,” she admitted. “I wrote the title track of the album, that song was the last one that I wrote for the album. It is a decades overdue apology to my mom, basically. Sorry, Mom. I don’t think I’m a wildly unique case. I just think the inevitable friction of being a child and growing into yourself and being a defiant person, it can be turbulent. And it was. So this is a thank you note to her.”

The musician discussed opening for Taylor Swift and her upcoming return to tour. She also recounted spotting Paul McCartney in the crowd during Glastonbury.

“We’re on stage [and] there’s a section that your friends and family watch from, like the wings of the stage,” she recalled. “I looked out and I was like, ‘God, what a beautiful moment.’ And I was like, ‘I gotta go find my brothers and my dad’ and I looked up and it was Paul McCartney up there. Which was so nauseating. I was like, ‘No, you’re not.’”

Later this year, Abrams will hit the road for the Look at My Life Tour, which kicks off in Denver, Colorado, on Dec. 2. To say that the singer is excited for the live trek is an understatement. “We’re baaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,” Abrams wrote on social media after the announcement. “I HAVE MISSED YOU AND I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!”
