Watch The Strokes debut ‘Tyrants Of The Yellow Moon’ live in Hollywood

The Strokes have broken out the first ever live performance of ‘Tyrants Of The Yellow Moon’ while on stage in Hollywood. Check it out below.

Julian Casablancas and co. played at the Hard Rock Live venue on Sunday (September 13), as part of their huge ongoing 2026 tour dates, celebrating the release of their seventh album ‘Reality Awaits‘, which was released in June.

Already, the shows have seen them break out new songs live for the first time – including giving ‘Lonely In The Future’ its live debut at Summer Sonic Tokyo, and breaking out ‘Going To Babble On’ at Just Like Heaven.

Now, at their show at Hard Rock Live, they added ‘Tyrants Of The Yellow Moon’ to their setlist for the first time, and introduced it six songs into the 22-song setlist.

They broke out the song after opening with ‘Lonely In The Future’, and following on with ‘Hard to Explain’, ‘Going Shopping’, ‘Juicebox’ and ‘Someday’. “We’re going to be trying to play a song we’ve never played before. Let’s do it,” Casablancas said, before the lights went to a dark blue shade, and the first notes of the song brought a brooding atmosphere to the venue.

The ‘Reality Awaits’ world tour continues around North America this month, before reaching the UK and Ireland in October. Those dates include two nights at London’s O2, followed by dates in Newcastle, Manchester and Dublin. See all the dates here and find any remaining tickets here.

NME gave ‘Reality Awaits’ four stars, writing: “Whether unleashing disses or getting deep into the weird and wonderful, a quarter of a century on from their debut, The Strokes sound more alive and locked in than they have in years.

“While ‘Reality Awaits’ does have its more dud moments – the opening one-two of ‘Psycho Shit’ and Dine N’Dash’ are a little meandering, while closer ‘Tyrants On The Mellow Moon’ similarly lacks the desired impact – it’s proof that letting bands go in unexpected directions can pay off big time.”
