Emily Eavis confirms Glastonbury 2027 headliners booked as she responds to Madonna rumours

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has confirmed that all three 2027 headliners have been booked, while addressing rumours linking Madonna to the festival.

The festival had a fallow year in 2026 to allow the ground at Worthy Farm to rest, but it is returning next summer between Wednesday June 23 and Sunday June 27.

As usual for the festival, they have not announced any names for next year as of yet, but Madonna has been strongly rumoured to be a possible headliner, after the release of her new album ‘Confessions II‘.

Eavis appeared on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme earlier today (August 14) and she was asked directly whether Madonna would be topping the Glastonbury 2027 bill.

“No, it’s definitely not Madonna, I’ll tell you that,” she said. “But we have got three headliners and we’re very excited about it – it’s all coming together really well.”

She was also asked whether Taylor Swift was one of the three headliners, to which Eavis simply laughed and declined to discuss the subject any further.

“Pretty much 95 per cent of the stories [about Glastonbury] you read are not true, and rumours are pretty much always wrong,” she said. “But the good news is that we’ve got our headliners and we’re cracking on, and we just can’t wait to get back.”

Speculation around Madonna making her Glastonbury debut next year peaked during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show in June, when she said she planned to undertake promotional tours before doing “something bigger” next summer.

When Norton asked whether the larger event would take place in the UK, she replied: “It could be. Why do I have to tell you everything?”

Madonna was also widely rumoured for Glastonbury in 2024, but negotiations reportedly fell apart.

Early bookies’ favourites for the Pyramid Stage next summer included the likes of Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Little Simz. Other rumoured names for topping the bill include Harry Styles, Radiohead, Fontaines D.C., Muse and The Rolling Stones.

More recent speculation has centred on The Stones, with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards both suggesting that the band could return to touring in 2027. They headlined Glastonbury for the only time in 2013.

Robbie Williams’ announcement of two outdoor shows in the week immediately after the festival also prompted rumours that he could appear at Worthy Farm, potentially in the Sunday Legends Slot. Williams had previously said he would “slaughter it” if offered that booking.

Elsewhere, Duran Duran have said they would only play Glastonbury if they were allowed to headline, while Brian May has ruled out Queen appearing, as Michael Eavis “likes killing badgers”.

This year’s instalment of the Worthy Farm festival saw The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo headline the iconic Pyramid Stage. Other performances came from the likes of Charli XCX, Wolf Alice, Rod Stewart, Doechii and Kneecap.

In a four-star review of ‘Confessions II’, NME wrote: “By drawing from her past, both personally and musically, Madonna has made her most vital album in over two decades. This grande dame still knows how to make us move.”
