Fontaines D.C. have announced another 80,000 capacity show at Slane Castle, due to the first announced date seeing phenomenal demand.
The Dublin rock icons announced on Monday (August 31) that they would be playing at the historic County Meath venue on June 26 2027, with support coming from Hayley Williams , Damien Dempsey and Madra Salach.
They made the announcement shortly after their headline performances at Reading & Leeds and Electric Picnic over the weekend, and the mammoth 2027 slot will make them only the third Irish act to headline Slane Castle, following Thin Lizzy in 1981 and U2 in 2001.
Other huge headline acts have included The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Queen, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Guns N’ Roses, Oasis, Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Eminem and Harry Styles.
Now, following huge demand, they are playing a second night at the Ireland venue – taking place on June 27.

“Slane. Due to demand we have added a second date at Slane Castle on Sunday 27th June,” a new announcement read, adding that tickets go on sale tomorrow (Thursday September 3) at 10am BST, and pre-sale options are out now. Find yours here.
It’s worth noting that both gigs take place during Glastonbury weekend, meaning that if Grian Chatten and co. are to make an appearance on the Worthy Farm line-up, it would only be possible for them to play there on the Thursday or Friday. No names have been confirmed for the 2027 edition of the Worthy Farm festival at the time of writing.
The new announcements of the Slane Castle gigs come as Fontaines are set to drop their fifth studio album, ‘Dopamine Chamber’, on October 16 via XL Recordings. The album is produced by James Ford, will follow the band’s UK platinum-certified 2024 album ‘Romance’, and has already previewed by the lead single ‘Marianne’ and further new songs including ‘Six Shot Morning’ and ‘Happy, For You’.
The latter got its live debut at Leeds Festival on Saturday (August 29), after technical and logistical problems forced them to cut the track from their Reading headline show the previous evening.
NME awarded Fontaines D.C.’s Reading headline performance four-and-a-half stars, writing: “Sorry for the short set,” ends Chatten before the pure anxiety explosion of the full stop of ‘Starburster’. We hear that three songs – and reportedly another never-played-before new one – were cut from the setlist due to the delay, and we envy the people at the sister site in Leeds who we assume are going to get the full Fontaines R+L headline experience as it was intended.
“Either way, tonight was a deserved coronation from the band of our time, even if we didn’t get them in full.”
Just before playing R&L, the band also played their first Irish show since the death of longtime manager and “sixth member” Trevor Dietz in June, when they took to the stage at Electric Picnic.
Now, ahead of the Slane Castle shows, the Dublin rockers will embark on an arena tour later this year, kicking off in Lisbon next month. The UK leg starts with a show at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena on November 20, with further shows in Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham and London.
