Working Men’s Club have returned with the Atticus Ross-produced new single ‘Devout’, which they say introduces a new chapter.
The standalone single follows on from critically-acclaimed albums ‘Working Men’s Club’ (2020) and ‘Fear Fear’ (2022), and is the first release they’ve shared since signing to Domino.
Said in a press release to herald the beginning of a new era for Working Men’s Club – aka songwriter-singer-producer Sydney Minsky Sargeant – the track sees Working Men’s Club join forces with Grammy-winning composer and Nine Inch Nails’ Atticus Ross.
The song takes on an intense, looming electronica sound as it fades in, with the rapidly increasing instrumentation being topped off with Sargeant’s distinctive, synth-inspired vocals.
While the sound has the same urgency and driving melodies that Working Men’s Club showcased in their previous material, ‘Devout’ introduces new, more-vulnerable lyrics and more abstract elements into the mix.
“Devout always felt like the right song to return with,” said Sargeant.
The song comes with a new companion visualiser directed by Innerstrings, and the artwork was designed by longtime Working Men’s Club creative collaborator SJ Hockett. Check it out above.
Working Men’s Club are set to play a handful of live shows across the UK next month – including a slot at SWN Festival in Cardiff, Future Days in Birmingham and Mutations in Brighton – before playing at Pitchfork in London in November.

Since the last Working Men’s Club album, Sargeant has also kickstarted a solo career, releasing the album ‘Lunga’ under his own name. He has also collaborated with Daniel Avery and James Greenwood’s Ghost Culture for the hallucinatory EP ‘Demise Of Love’.
Speaking to NME last year about how the ‘Lunga’ album was a powerful, emotional undertaking for him, Sargeant shared last year: “There were a couple of points, making this record, where I was on the verge of a breakdown. To deal with the things I was struggling with, I had to be vulnerable. To overcome some difficult thoughts and feelings, I had to put them out on the table.”
