CeeLo Green has clarified that Danger Mouse won’t be performing on the upcoming Gnarls Barkley tour.
A poster billed the pair as reuniting for the North American run – their first in 18 years – but Green has told fans that Danger Mouse, real name Brian Burton, is the duo’s producer rather than a performer.
He wrote on Instagram: “total transparency @gnarlsbarkleyofficial #fans the ” to whom it still concerns” tour is here! It’s been almost 20 years, , probably won’t happen again ! There has been inquiry but “DANGER MOUSE IS NOT PERFORMING” !!!! We want no misunderstandings / disappointments etc. He is my Producer(a great one at that) ! not a performing artist .we are business partners, Whatever he decides for himself is his right…and I support him (vice versa) this is a disclaimer. #respectfully. I on the other hand will be performing Songs from these three iconic albums….it’s going to be amazing and he will be there in spirit. See you #soon (sic)”
The To Whom It Still Concerns tour art has also been updated to reflect the error, now reading: “CeeLo Green performing Gnarls Barkley.”
The Crazy hitmakers’ trek will begin at The Masonic in San Francisco on November 5. Due to demand, a new date in New York has been added on November 25.
Gnarls Barkley will also play UK dates in December.
Fans can grab tickets for the UK shows at 10am BST Friday (25.09.26).
In March, the duo released their third and final studio album, Atlanta.
Gnarls Barkley became one of the defining acts of the 2000s with their debut album St. Elsewhere and its global hit Crazy, which topped charts worldwide.
Their follow-up album continued their reputation for genre-blending experimentation before the project went quiet.
