Fontaines D.C. have shared “Tongue,” a second single from the Irish rock behemoth’s new album Dopamine Chamber. The band members filmed themselves on a visit to New York for the John Angus Stewart-directed video, which you can watch below.
Guitarist Conor Curley said in a press release that the song “continued where Romance left off, leaving the live-band elements until they were really needed.” In practice, that sounds like a tape-manipulated bassline from Conor Deegan and a Grian Chatten vocal line distorted in a sampler, thanks to handiwork from guitarist Carlos O’Connell.
The James Ford-produced Dopamine Chamber arrives October 16 via XL, as the band gears up for a huge tour that so far includes no U.S. dates. Rosalía was recently unveiled as the album’s only guest, and the first on any Fontaines album. The band snagged her for a duet on “Where Is Gone?”; by contrast, Bono recently got cold feet about asking the Catalan singer to guest on the new U2 album and decided to do an impression of her instead.
