Barry Manilow cancels more Vegas shows amid cancer treatment

Barry Manilow cancels more Vegas shows amid cancer treatment

Barry Manilow has cancelled more of his Vegas residency shows as he continues to battle lung cancer.

The Copacabana singer revealed his medical team had advised against performing this month.

Barry, 82, had not been able to perform live since he confirmed in December he had been diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer.

After cancelling a series of gigs previously scheduled for February, and subsequently his February and March arena-tour launch dates and April residency dates, the Mandy hitmaker once again took to social media with a similar update.

“Good news! I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I’m making great progress and look great. Well of course I do! Thank you very much! All the training and exercising I’ve put in is paying off,” Barry wrote in an Instagram Story.

“He did say, however, that I’m not quite ready for Vegas. That means I won’t be able to return for our May shows.”

The octogenarian added his prognosis was good and he fully expected to be well enough to perform upcoming UK arena shows.

“But the good news is he said I will be ready for my June arena shows in the UK,” he wrote.

“It’s going to be great to see you all in the UK. Westgate Las Vegas is my home away from home…and I’ll see you all in July. In the meantime…come to the UK! We’ll be there in June and hope you will be too! See you then… Barry.”

Barry has openly admitted he finds it “agony” to wait for the treatment to be over.

“I am still not there yet … I’m not totally healed,” he told The Times in an interview published at the end of March.

“The doctors said that it would take a while, but I have no patience and waiting is agony.”
