Billie Eilish calls for gun control following “devastating” shootings in US and Australia: “Raise your voice”

Billie Eilish is calling for gun control following a series of recent shootings in the US and Australia.

The singer-songwriter paid tributes to the victims that were shot and wounded at a birthday party in Brooklyn, a shooting at Brown University’s campus in Providence, and the attack in Bondi Beach in Sydney earlier this week.

In a post on her Instagram Story, Eilish wrote: “Today is the anniversary of the massacre at sandy hook elementary, & we woke up to the news of mass shootings in australia, at brown university, & in brooklyn.”

She continued: “This is so devastating. My heart goes out to all of the victims & their loved ones. Raise your voice, work for change, & vote out anyone who’s not willing to reform gun policy.”

Billie Eilish has called for gun control reform, urging people to “vote out anyone who’s not willing to reform gun policy” following three mass shootings over the weekend.

The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting took place on December 14, 2012, after a gunman killed 26 people – 20 of whom were children between the ages of 6 and 7.

Exactly 13 years later, three similarly violent attacks took place in three different locations.

At least 15 people died on Bondi Beach in Sydney after a gunman opened fire on an Australian Hanukkah celebration, six teenagers were shot and wounded at a birthday party in Brooklyn, N.Y., and officials are still searching for the person who killed two people and injured nine others on Brown University’s campus.

Eilish’s latest comments come after she previously appeared alongside a host of artists in a Artist For Action To Prevent Gun Violence video, calling for gun control in 2023.

In 2019, she also implored her fans to speak up to help impose stricter gun control laws in the US, following two deadly mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.

“I’m making this video right now to talk about how scared and worried I am about the fucking shootings that have been going on, and how nobody ‘in charge’ is doing anything to change anything at all. I literally can’t stand it,” she said at the time.

Eilish then asked her fans “to try to change things” by texting the word “CHECKS” to 644-33 to get in contact with the organisation Everytown for Gun Safety.

Elsewhere, she recently shared the trailer for the concert film of her ‘Hit Me Hard & Soft’ tour, directed by James Cameron. The film, which will be released in 3D, will arrive in cinemas on March 20, 2026.

In other news, hackers reportedly scammed $5.3billion (£4billion) from music fans this year by posing as Eilish, Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and others.
