Boza Joins Latin Grammy In The Schools to Support Panamanian High School

The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation partnered with Sony Music and Panamanian artist Boza for Latin Grammy In The Schools, donating instruments to Panama’s Instituto Rubiano and hosting performances, followed by a Q&A with the artist. Instituto Rubiano, one of Panama’s leading public schools, serves 4,000 students — which offers diplomas in science, humanities, and computer science — aims to “becoming a national model in scientific, humanistic and technological excellence,” mentions a press release.

“It’s an honor for me to be part of the Latin Grammy In The Schools program because music was the tool that helped me believe in myself and change the course of my life,” said Boza in the statement. “Sharing that experience with students and showing them that their talent, voice and culture have value is something very special. I hope this program motivates them to trust their creativity and understand that there is room for them in the industry.”

“We thank Boza and Sony Music Group for their partnership and commitment to our shared mission to nurture future Latin music creators,” added Raquel “Rocky” Egusquiza, executive director of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation. “Together with their support, we have ensured the legacy of Latin music at Instituto Rubiano and created what we hope will be a lifetime of memories for the student body in attendance.”

During the second night of his sold-out concert at Medellín’s Atanasio Girardot Stadium on Saturday (Jan. 24), Bad Bunny paid tribute to Yeison Jiménez. Colombia’s música popular artist passed away on Jan. 10 in a fatal plane crash, along with five of his teammates. In front of 50,000 fans, the Puerto Rican superstar enlisted his cuatro player, José Eduardo Santana, to perform a moving acoustic rendition of Jiménez’s “Aventurero,” one of the late artist’s best-known hits. As Santana’s guitar sang through the that night, the emotional crowd erupted into cheers before joining in unison to sing the lyrics. See the moment below.
