Britney Spears’s rep denies she displayed ‘erratic’ behaviour at restaurant

Britney Spears’s representative has denied a report claiming she was “erratic” during a recent dinner outing.

Earlier on Thursday, editors at TMZ reported that the Princess of Pop “started causing a scene” amid an evening at the Blue Dog Beer Tavern, Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

Sources told the outlet that Britney was “raising her voice, screaming, and even barking at times,” and allegedly walked past another patron’s table “holding a knife”.

But after the report hit headlines, Britney’s representative issued a statement in which they insisted the claims were “completely blown out of proportion”.

“Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard,” they commented. “She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbours. At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half.”

The spokesperson went on to accuse the media of “constantly attacking” Britney.

“This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop now,” they added.

The report comes a week after Britney pleaded guilty to reckless driving following her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) in March.

While the 44-year-old was originally given a criminal DUI charge, her defence attorney Michael Goldstein reached a plea deal during an arraignment in Ventura County Superior Court.

The Toxic hitmaker was sentenced to one year of probation.

Britney is also required to complete a three-month DUI programme and pay fees and a fine of $571 (£422).

Returning to Instagram last weekend, the Baby One More Time star shared that she was now embarking on a “spiritual journey” and was focusing on learning how to be “kind to myself”.
