Coldplay share ‘In-Between’, a short film exploring the refugee crisis set to songs from ‘Moon Music’

Coldplay have shared a short film In-Between, which explores the refugee crisis and is set to songs from ‘Moon Music’ – watch it below.

The 12-minute video has been made in conjunction with the UK-based non-governmental organisation Choose Love, which provides humanitarian aid to and advocates for refugees around the world.

The film, directed by Renee Maria Osubu, tells the story of Omar, a young man from Ethiopia who is navigating his new life in Malta, and sees him laying out the challenges that he is confronted with and the emotional and societal friction of the changes in his life.

It has been predominantly cast with immigrants and refugees and the production was supported by the refugee-focused organisations SPARK 15 and RAAH, while proceeds will go to Choose Love.

Watch In-Between, which includes songs from Coldplay’s 2024 album, including the title track and ‘Alien Hits / Alien Radio’, here:

Coldplay and frontman Chris Martin have dipped their toe in political and humanitarian issues in the past, with Martin recently reflecting on the “angry” and “negative” reaction that some of his on-stage comments have received in recent months.

“I did get a little shaken recently,” he said. “Because almost every time that I’ve said anything that we really believe in – in terms of equality, empathy, the things that I believe will help humans, more than criticism or aggression or genocide or terrorism – they’ve somehow become viral, negatively.”

He continued: “A group of people are angry because I want to love all people. I’m not angry at those people that are angry at me but I was starting to get a bit like, ‘Do I have to stop saying that we welcome people from all [places]?’”

Among some of his criticised comments were his plea for the crowd to “send love” to the family of Charlie Kirk after his assassination in September.

In other news, Martin and Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland have announced an intimate London charity gig for December 3. The Hackney Church show will raise money for Crisis and War Child and you can find any remaining tickets here.

Coldplay’s giant ‘Music Of The Spheres’ tour came to an end in September, after becoming the second tour to ever gross over $1billion, but Martin revealed at the penultimate show at Wembley that there are “138 more shows to go”, adding: “We have a break coming up, and we’ll announce the shows for 2027 soon.”
