Dead Kennedys’ Jello Biafra in stable condition after stroke

Former Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra has given fans an update after he was rushed to a hospital over the weekend after suffering a stroke.

The punk-rocker reassured fans he’s in stable condition and recovering in hospital.

“I still have a lot of great stuff in me, but right now I gotta lotta of rehabbing to do,” Biafra said in an Instagram post.

Biafra shared that the stroke, which caused the left side of his body to go completely numb, was a result of high blood pressure, and happened when he tried to get out of bed on Saturday night.

“My left leg just collapsed under me, and I fell to the floor,” he explained. “I couldn’t even break the fall with my left arm because it wasn’t working either. I tried to hop back up again, and I couldn’t.”

Biafra’s record label, Alternative Tentacles, assured fans it would continue to share updates on the California Über Alles singer’s progress.

“Speaking for the Alternative Tentacles family, we are all just very thankful he is okay and getting the care that he needs,” reps posted.

Biafra was the lead singer and co-founder of the San Francisco punk band Dead Kennedys from 1978 until the band split in 1986.

The group reunited without Biafra in 2001.
