Hayley Williams launches new band Power Snatch with three new singles

Hayley Williams launches new band Power Snatch with three new singles

Hayley Williams has launched a new band called Power Snatch and already dropped three new singles. Check them out below.

The soloist and Paramore singer formed the band with frequent collaborator Daniel James, who also helped her write and produce tracks for her latest solo album, ‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’.

They appeared on a joint show for Apple Music 1 to announce the project this week, and confirmed that a new single called ‘Assignment’ was available to check out now.

However, since the announcement was made, fans have done some sleuthing and found that the new band’s Instagram page has been active since last summer, and posted a snippet of another new song all the way back in July.

As well as that, those who searched for the newly-unveiled group on Bandcamp were surprised to find a third new single called ‘DMs’.

For the latter, the two of them take on a melancholic, shoegaze-inspired sound, with Williams singing about an ex, backed by grungy, distorted guitars. “Where I should keep this memory, that version of me/ She was real but she was weak, weak in the knees,” she sings, building to the emotive chorus: “I remember when I was her/ I remember when I was your girl.”

The currently untitled track available on the band’s Instagram page, however, takes on a more lively feel, with both Williams and James leaning into slightly more unsettling, abstract instrumentals. In the preview of the song, the singer is heard calmly delivering tongue-in-cheek lyrics like “I think about Wayne’s World the way some folks think about The Godfather”.

Finally, the track announced on Apple Music 1, ‘Assignment’, is by far the heaviest of the three new singles, and sees the duo move towards more intense, high-energy instrumentals. Some fans on social media have cited slight similarities to acts like Buckethead.

While it is surprising to see new music from Williams so soon after her critically acclaimed solo album – which dropped in July – the singer has shared hints recently that she was wanting to keep exploring other musical avenues going forward.

Last October, for example, she told Rolling stone that she was wanting to “be in 100 bands before I die”, because she felt like that was “the speed I work best in”.

Before then, she spoke to Kerrang! About why she wasn’t itching to start work on the follow-up to Paramore’s 2023 album ‘This Is Why’ just yet, adding that she was more focused on writing music as a solo act first. “It wasn’t time to make another Paramore record, but I had a lot of shit to say, so I’ve done what I’ve done for myself and made this record,” she said of her 2025 solo release.

“It’s OK that it’s me by myself and not Paramore right now. Paramore will always have its time because it’s just what we do,” she added. “We cycle back in and out of it. We resent it one minute. We want to wear matching clothes in the next minute.”

While Williams is already sharing new music from Power Snatch, it may be a while until we see the group announce any live shows. This is because the singer is currently gearing up for a huge global tour in support of ‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’ – which was recently extended due to “overwhelming demand”.

That record is up for four Grammys at this weekend’s ceremony (Sunday February 1), including in the Best Alternative Music Album category.

It was given a glowing five-star review by NME when it was first shared – praised as a “brilliant, swaggering new chapter” for the alt-rock icon – and later landed at Number Nine on NME‘s 50 Best Albums of 2025 list.

As for other releases from Williams, in 2025 the singer helped to finally release an album recorded by her grandfather around 50 years ago, and kicked off the new year by covering one of his tracks from the ’70s.
