Hilary Duff has conceded she had “zero education” as a child star.
During an interview for the Table Manners podcast this week, the actress-singer explained that she was home-schooled from the age of eight and didn’t get much formal education once she hit stardom after landing the titular role in the early 2000s comedy series, Lizzie McGuire.
“(I received) zero education, but I know a lot about a lot of things,” she told co-hosts Jessie and Lennie Ware.
While Hilary didn’t get her General Educational Development (GED), she maintained that she is “happy” with her level of knowledge.
“I feel like I educated myself on my own (on) different things I was interested in,” the 38-year-old continued. “I love to read. I mean, I don’t have as much time as I would like to read, but I really enjoy reading.”
And when Lennie asked Hilary whether she would contemplate going to college as an adult, the pop star indicated that she probably wouldn’t pursue a degree.
“I think I’m past the window of caring that my education wasn’t great because I feel like I got strengths in other areas, and it kind of helps,” she smiled. “And I’m not shy to ask a question about something. I know that my life was different than most, and I don’t need to be embarrassed that I don’t know when, like, a certain war took place. There’s Google for that and ChatGPT. Honestly, something that’s been so cool is connecting to my kid and having him teach me stuff that I didn’t know about because he is getting a really great education.”
Hilary shares son Luca, 13, with ex-husband Mike Comrie.
The Mature star and her husband, Matthew Koma, are also parents to daughters Banks, seven, Mae, four, and Townes, 22 months.
Hilary recently made her musical comeback with her sixth studio album Luck… or Something.
She will embark on a global trek, titled the Lucky Me Tour, in support of the project later in the year.
