Jelly Roll has slammed the rumours swirling around his pending divorce from Bunnie Xo.
Just hours after his soon-to-be ex-wife posted a new episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast addressing their divorce, Jelly Roll has put out his own response.
Speaking from the stage in Saratoga Springs, New York on Thursday night, 18 June, on his Little ASS Shed Tour, the singer took a break from the music after performing his hit Liar. He told the audience, “I wasn’t going to talk about this tonight, but while we’re talking about liars, the Internet is a liar, too.”
Reiterating that this would be the only time he addresses the topic, he said, “Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today. Nobody cheated on nobody.”
Jelly Roll then brought up Bunnie’s podcast, saying that every word of it was true. “That will be my best friend forever… Bunnie, I love you, baby. Thank you for those 10 years.”
Earlier on Thursday, Bunnie Xo declared her ongoing love for Jelly Roll. She also addressed false rumours that she had cheated on Jelly Roll with Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, and that Jelly Roll was dating pop/country singer Jessie Murph, whom he duetted with on Wild Ones.
She explained the pair had an argument on Mother’s Day and she told him to “file the f**king divorce papers”. And, to her surprise, he did.
“Was this divorce mutual? No, it was not mutual, even though I told him to file the divorce papers, I was speaking out of anger and just frustration,” she said on the podcast.
“But was it necessary for us to have a wake-up call? Absolutely. My husband and I are ending this marriage on the best possible terms that you could ever have a divorce.”
The news that Jelly Roll had filed for divorce on May 18 after 10 years together broke on Monday.
