Keith Urban is set to release an album of his “all-time favourite” yacht rock songs.
The country music star announced on Instagram on Wednesday that he will drop Flow State, his thirteenth studio album, on 12 June.
In a statement, Keith explained that he had been working on new music for a while.
“Flow State started as a fun little project and somehow turned into a full-fledged album,” he wrote. “It features 10 covers of some of my all-time favorite yacht rock songs, along with incredible collaborations with John Mayer and Little Big Town, PLUS one original track, We Go Back, with the legendary Michael McDonald.”
We Go Back and Summer Breeze, a cover of the 1972 Seals and Crofts classic, are now available to stream.
Other tracks on the album include Steal Away, a version of Robbie Dupree’s 1980 song, and Baby Come Back, the lead single from rock band Player’s 1977 debut.
And speaking to Extra ahead of the release, Keith recalled how record producer Dann Huff encouraged him to get back into the recording studio.
“It wasn’t a plan. I just bought a new studio and I wanted to just break it in and so we thought we’d do one or two yacht rock songs for fun and when we got to the end of the session on the first day, Dann Huff says, ‘You got any more?’ And I was like, ‘Maybe,'” the 58-year-old continued. “The record just kept growing and growing and we ended up with a whole album. The album had a life of its own.”
On Tuesday, Keith – who finalised his divorce from Nicole Kidman in January – was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame Class of 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee.
