Kendrick Lamar‘s upcoming live-action comedy film with the creators of South Park has been delayed again.

In early 2022, it was revealed that the rapper would be producing a comedy movie in collaboration with Matt Stone and Trey Parker. The following year, it was confirmed that besides producing, Parker would also direct the live-action film.

Ever since then, little information has been shared about the movie, except that it would be released on the Fourth of July this year. But the film was then delayed until March 20, 2026 by Paramount.

Now, the movie has been pushed back again and no new date has been set for its release.

“It’s true – we’re moving (again). We’re working hard at finishing the movie,” read a joint statement attributed to Stone and Parker’s production banner Park County and Lamar’s company PGLang, via Variety.

Virtually no information about the film has been shared, including its title nor cast. The only other piece of information that has been made public is that Dave Free of Lamar’s label PgLang will co-produce, and that the plot revolves around the past and present coming to a head when a young black man who is interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.

It comes after Lamar was recently nominated for nine 2026 Grammy nominations for his sixth album ‘GNX’, which was released last November.

His nine nods put him two places ahead of Lady Gaga, Jack Antonoff and producer Cirkut, who all sit on seven, while Sabrina Carpenter, Leon Thomas, Serban Ghenea and Bad Bunny all have six.

The ceremony is due to take place in Los Angeles on February 1, with CBS and Paramount+ set to broadcast the show live.

In a five-star review of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GNX’, Kyann-Sian Williams wrote for NME: “‘GNX’ starts off with such an ominous tone that doesn’t necessarily leave. But Lamar channels what could be interpreted as hate and negativity into a teachable moment, leading you to draw upon the purest emotion known to man: love. In a year that started with so much venom, Kendrick Lamar shares the antidote on ‘GNX’.”
