Kesha has offered Kim Petras her support as she fights to be released from her record label.

The German pop star revealed in a string of posts on X on Tuesday that she had “formally requested” to be dropped from Republic Records because they allegedly won’t release her completed upcoming album Detour.

“My album has been done for 6 months but my record label has refused to give me a release date or pay my collaborator’s for the work they’ve done (sic),” she wrote.

“I’m tired of having no control over my own life or career. I want to continue to self fund and self curate my own music. This is why I have formally requested to be dropped by @RepublicRecords.”

Kesha, who has experienced her own legal battle with her record label, offered Kim a message of support.

“I spent many years fighting for the rights to myself,” she wrote. “Watching another woman realize that the ‘golden cage’ is still a cage isn’t a victory – it’s a tragedy we have to stop repeating. Freedom isn’t a privilege; it’s a birthright. I hear you, I’m sorry Kim.”

The 33-year-old responded with a pink heart emoji.

For almost a decade, Kesha was embroiled in lawsuits with her longtime music producer Dr. Luke after she accused him of sexual assault and emotional abuse, among other claims, in 2014.

The star tried to be released from her contract with Dr. Luke’s label Kemosabe Records during this time, but her request was denied.

Both parties reached a settlement in June 2023, and Kesha parted ways with Kemosabe Records that December, seven months after releasing her last contractual album, Gag Order.

Kim signed with Republic Records in 2021 and released the 2023 albums Feed the Beast and Problématique, plus two EPs. She won a Grammy with Sam Smith in 2023 for their collaboration Unholy.

In her posts, she claimed that she self-funded a music video two months ago, but record executives haven’t given her a release date for it.

“I won a grammy 2 years ago…….. the music is TEA. Still no support. If it’s not a tiktok trend or 80s revival queerbaiting s**t these labels have no interest in supporting,” she wrote. “My fans have waited long enough. I love u guys.”

She concluded by declaring, “I’m dropping Detour regardless.”
