Kylie Minogue confirms plans for 40th anniversary tour

Kylie Minogue has confirmed she plans to celebrate her 40th anniversary with a tour.

The 57-year-old singer launched her pop career back in 1987, while still starring in TV soap Neighbours, with a cover of The Loco-Motion and she is looking forward to commemorating the milestone with fans next year.

Asked if she is planning to tour in honour of the 40th anniversary, she told The Sunday Times’ Style magazine: “I’m probably not meant to say this, but yes, I am.”

Kylie isn’t afraid to reach out to artists whose music she likes to tell them she is a fan.

Asked who she is listening to at the moment, she said: “Sombr. I sent him a message or maybe he sent me a message, I don’t know.

“I put him on one of my playlists for some promo I was doing. I’m no longer shy to send a message to someone when I want them to know they are amazing.

“Otherwise I love yacht rock [soft rock], indie folk. I love Wolf Alice, and the last big show I saw was Coldplay, always Coldplay. I will go to every show they ever do.”

The Spinning Around singer is keen to return to her roots and get back into acting.

She admitted: “I would love to do a musical, to act again, to be in the hands of a director who can get me there.”

Kylie is gearing up for the release of a three-part Netflix documentary series, simply titled Kylie, and when asked by producer John Battsek if she would consider writing a new song to go with the footage, she spent “so many hours” on her own trying to get the track right.

She said: “You realise the importance of the song at the end. I worked so hard on it, it was like rolling a rock up a hill. I spent so many solitary hours, working, working, working.”

The Padam Padam hitmaker feels a mixture of “excitement and nerves” about the impending release of the documentary and she is curious to see if it affects how people see her.

She said: “I have such a knot of excitement and nerves.

“There was so much to get through. How the hell do you tell the story? I’ve been asked by so many people to do a documentary in the past, but I’ve never done anything like this before…

“I haven’t seen it too many times. I’m looking forward to it being out there. It’s like releasing a song, you can’t make any more changes once it’s out there.

“Will I live differently, will people relate to me differently? Some people will never have heard of me.”
